Soccer Mad

Well a very good friend of mine is soccer mad and just happened to turn 50.  (By the way, when did I get old enough to have friends turning 50!!).  So what do you do for a birthday card for a male, with those two in common ..... this:

Well this card is a straight case from the fabulous blog by Kewl stamps.  I loved how the card came together to resemble a soccer ball.  In fact, I'm not sure if that was what was originally intended but to me, it shouted SOCCER!!

I've used the honeycomb embossing folder on both the Whisper White and Basic Black cardstock before hand cutting out the black hexagons.  Easy to do, as I just had to cut on the embossing lines!!  I added a couple of black stripes and sponged the 'soccer ball'.  Here's a little tip: stamp the sentiment BEFORE embossing.  Makes it a tad easier!

And I've added some nice glittery numbers to show it's a 50 card.  Just had to of course!!

So here's what I used:
Stamps: Birthday Wish (retired)
Inks: Basic Black
Papers: Basic Black, Whisper White CS & Silver Glimmer Paper
Big Shot: Circles die & timeless Junior Alphabet
Accessories: Daubers & dimensionals

Happy Birthday Phil!  So be sure to check the fabulous blog of Kewl Stamps n More for more inspiration!
