Vintage Purples

Feeling rather blah today, it was a perfect day to be indoors.  Out of the wind and next to my craft table!!  I have been looking through a lot of old craft magazines the past few days looking for inspiration and ideas.  I found a layout for a card using the Top Note die from Stampin' Up!.  Nothing fancy or difficult.  Just clean and simple.  So I decided to make one for myself.

I was tossing up between two of my favourite sets ... Vintage Vogue from the new Autumn mini or Friends 24-7.  Both are perfect for making birthday cards for my friends.  And being in love with the new Vintage Vogue set, I used that and a pile of scrap pieces of cardstock from  my 'use up one day stash', and came up with this:

I then decided, the card was quite 'vintage' for me, so I might just have to enter it into the latest Just Add Ink Challenge - Number 14.  Just add vintage!!

Yes, my picture taking of cards is still not ideal, but hopefully you'll see what I tried to do!

Stamps: Vintage Vogue
Inks: Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke, Vintage Violet and Orchid Opulence
Papers: Orchid Opulence, Very Vanilla (smooth & textured) and Old Olive
Other: Brads, Big Shot & Stampin' Up! Top Note die, Eyelet border punch, crimper, sponge daubers, pearl button and crochet thread.

Did you notice I made a bit of 'paper' lace under the main focal point?  Easy to do.  I used the Eyelet border punch to create a strip of paper, put it through the crimper, and gathered it (using sticky strip) together.    If you want to add colour like I did, either sponge the edges before you crimp the piece or afterwards.

Speaking of sponging, I also sponged the edges of the Top Note die cut with Certainly Celery just to blur the edges and take away the starkness of it.  So love my sponge daubers!!

Thanks for looking!
