Work of Art for the Boys

It's Father's Day today and before I go one sentence further, I just wanted to wish my own dad and my husband a very Happy Father's Day.  With three kids of our own, it's a busy job being a dad!!

So I just wanted to share a swap I made for my Stampin' Up group - Avid Inkers.  In anticipation of Father's Day, we decided to pick a masculine theme.  I'll show you my ones today and the swaps I received, later in the week!

I went with a 'out-of-my-comfort-zone' colour combination with the use of Tangerine Tango, Lost Lagoon and Baked Brown Sugar, but I'm thinking a great colour combo for the guys!

I made a whole bunch of them and put them together in a little pile tied with twine. I try to be arty sometimes, not that it always works!!

I used the Work of Art stamp set to create my little sailboat and the chevron waves.  So cute!  I used my Chocolate Chip marker to make the mast.  My main card was layered onto a piece of Crumb Cake CS and then onto a base of Tangelo Twist, embossed with the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder.

I added two little black banners that were stapled on.  They kind of look like little sailing flags.  I had a lot of fun making these.  Not that my husband or my dad are into sailing!!

So here's what I used:
Papers: Whisper White, Tangelo Twist, Crumb Cake & Basic Black CS
Inks: Tangelo Twist, Baked Brown Sugar, Lost Lagoon & Chocolate Chip marker
Stamps: Work of Art
Accessories: Staples, Large Polka Dot E/F & Banner Punch

Inspiration for my swap came from here.
