I often am asked, by new and experienced crafters alike, what are the essential tools for a Stamper, Scrapper, or Papercrafter. So I thought I would put together a few of my must haves and a few of my favourites! Today I thought I would share a few of the basics!
1. Scissors
All crafters need a few pairs of scissors. Designate one pair of scissors
for paper and another for fabric and ribbon. Don't use your paper
scissors, which will eventually become dull, to cut fabric; they can
create pulls.
I love my paper snips and have one for ribbon only. Clean scissor blades regularly with eucalyptus oil, it will remove all the old adhesive on your scissors!

2. Bone Folders
With the bone folder, you get the best possible professional results and it just happens to be one of the best tool for scoring paper before you fold it. Bone folders are also good for smoothing edges. Use it for everything from getting beautiful, crisp folds to distressing the edges of a card, scrapbook page, or accent.
3. Cutting Mats Cutting mats
offer an easy way to protect your work surface from cuts and scratches.
One made from a "self-healing" material will resist wear and tear when
you're scoring paper. I cover my cutting mats with scrap paper to keep my mats as clean as I can.
4. Adhesives
Whether you're glittering a photo or adorning buttons, these adhesives are must-have supplies for holding your crafts together. There are so many different types of adhesives, for so many different purposes, so I'll just list my favourites for now!
Multi-Purpose Adhesive:
The Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive has a dual tip for placing
adhesive exactly where you want it. Place an exact small amount using
the small tip, or spread the adhesive over a larger area using the wide
tip. It is acid free and compatible with most craft materials, including paper, cardboard, fabric, felt, burlap, and even
glitter, when evenly spread. Diluted glue stops fabric edges from fraying.
Glue Dots:
Our
Mini Glue Dots are super sticky, double-sided adhesive dots for use on
3-D accents for cards, scrapbook pages, and other projects. This fast,
clean adhesive is safe for kids, too. No fumes, no mess, and no drying
time required!
Dimensionals:
Stampin’ Dimensionals are the easiest way to give your projects an instant 3-D
look. Just stamp an image, trim around it, and then use a Stampin’
Dimensional to attach it to your project. They are also great for making
greetings stand out and attaching 3-D objects such as tags and bows.
My other favourites include: Sticky Strip, 2-way Glue pen and SNAIL.
Stamping Must Haves!!
Stamping must haves include acrylic blocks (for the clear mount stampers) and Stamp Cleaners!
Stampin' Mist:Stampin’ Mist is a specially formulated spray that both cleans and conditions
your rubber stamps. You can spray it directly on your Stampin’ Scrub. It
comes in a convenient spray bottle and refills are available. Cleans
all types of ink from rubber.
And of course, the Stampin' Mist goes hand in hand with:
Stampin' Scrub:
The Stampin' Scrub is a dual-sided
tray which contains extra-large, washable, plush, black fiber scrub pads.
Clean stamp on one side, blot dry on the other. Cleans very detailed
stamps.
So that's it for the basics, I'll be back soon with more Toolbox essentials, including my favourite colouring tools!
